60-Year-Old Chinese Man Cycling Hit by Car and Killed in Italy

Italian Chinese Online September 5, 2026 news — just hearing this is painful.

At around 6 a.m., as dawn was just breaking. On a provincial road near Pralormo, a 60-year-old Chinese man riding a bicycle was hit from behind by a car and died on the spot.

The man, whose surname was Xing and whose full name was Xing Shougui (name is a transliteration), was originally from China and usually lived in Turin. That day, he was riding an ordinary household bicycle along Provincial Road 29 from Turin toward Alba. When he reached near the Poirino-Scaravone road, the accident happened.

The vehicle that hit him was an Audi A3 Sportback, driven by a local 35-year-old man living in Poirino. The car was going in the same direction and struck him directly from behind. The impact was so strong that Mr. Xing was thrown violently and suffered extremely serious injuries.

Afterward, some speculated that it might have been too dark and the driver did not see the cyclist ahead. An ambulance arrived fairly quickly; emergency medical workers rushed to save him, but they really could not bring him back. What a pity.

Later, Carabinieri from Chieri arrived and spent a long time measuring and mapping the scene. Judging from the scene, Mr. Xing did not seem to have been wearing a safety helmet.

Police are still investigating what exactly happened in this accident — whether it was a visibility issue or some other cause. Either way, a life is gone just like that, and how heartbroken his family must be.
