Chinese Family Music Group Sings Mid Autumn Festival at Elderly Center
In order to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival, "The Chiao Family Singers" will hold a Mid Autumn Festival concert at the Bashadena Elderly Center at 2pm on the 24th.
This combination consists of two male tenors from the Qiao brothers and two female tenors from their wives. My older brother Ping Chiao and younger brother James Chiao grew up in a musical family, with my father Qiao Fei being a composer. Later, the two brothers and their respective wives Jia Fang Su and Lily Chiao formed a family singing group, sharing the warmth and happiness brought by music with everyone through their singing.
The concert is themed around the moon, combining traditional Chinese songs with classic American songs. There are English songs that everyone has heard of, such as' Moon River 'and' Fly Me to the Moon '. Chinese songs include the traditional famous song "Full Moon, Flowers Bloom" and the Cantonese song "Moonlight" that many people can sing.
Moonlight "is a lullaby that Cantonese families are familiar with and have passed down from generation to generation. Cantonese speaking families around the world have heard it. For the 'Qiao family', this song also has a special sense of familial affection, as it was written by Qiao Fei, the father of the Qiao brothers. So when brothers and family stand on the American stage and sing 'Moonlight', it's not just a familiar Cantonese song, but also a continuation of the family's deep affection for their father's musical heritage.
At the concert, four family members will sing Chinese and English songs in different voices of tenor and soprano. On the Mid-Autumn Festival, they want to share family and friendship, as well as the beauty of music in the integration of Chinese and Western cultures. The Mid Autumn Festival celebration on that day also included the performance of traditional Chinese guqin. After the concert, the elderly center will hold a brief reception and provide guests with Mid Autumn mooncakes sponsored by U.S. Bank.
