Prato Court rejects appeal, Acca clearance ruled illegal, union claims to turn a tide

Recently, the Prato Court in Italy rejected the appeal of the local prosecutor's office and upheld the original decision not to recognize the emergency detention order against Acca Logistics Company. This result has once again drawn attention to the long-standing and highly influential labor management conflict in Prato. It also shows that the radical union Sudd Cobas has a significant impact on the local Chinese clothing supply chain.

The incident began with the layoffs of Acca Logistics Company. After the company announced layoffs, the Sudd Cobas union organized a blockade and protest that lasted for dozens of days, day and night. Acca company usually helps many Prato Chinese fast fashion companies with shipping. After the union blocked the entrance, many ready-made clothes that had already been sold and were waiting to be sent to customers were stuck in the warehouse and could not be shipped out.

Due to the impact on business, many orders may default. The local prosecutor's office has issued a pre detention order to transport a small portion of fast fashion goods that can prove their legal origin and sales channels. But in early July, the action turned into a forced clearance of the striking personnel on site. Later, the pre-trial judge refused to approve the detention order, and the prosecution appealed. Until recently, the court officially rejected the prosecution's request. The Sudd Cobas union says their resistance has won again.

However, this matter also raises concerns that this radical approach to rights protection is putting great pressure on the Prato Chinese clothing industry. Industry insiders say that independent trade unions represented by Sudd Cobas often do not go through normal labor arbitration and industry negotiations, but directly block factory doors and even seize legitimate goods from third-party enterprises.

Many local Chinese businesses say that Prato Fast Fashion relies on an efficient and flexible supply chain. But Sudd Cobas' actions and exposure are mostly focused on Chinese enterprises or logistics points that are closely related to the Chinese industry chain. This practice of specifically targeting and blocking logistics has caused losses to compliant Chinese businessmen who have not participated in labor disputes, and has also disrupted the normal market operation order. Faced with frequent attacks from radical unions, the business community of Prato Hua actively uses legal means to protect their rights, while also calling on local law enforcement and regulatory agencies to maintain objectivity and impartiality, and protect the normal production and logistics flow of legally operated enterprises.
