Time-honored brand ginseng new product 'Guandi Black Ginseng' goes to the United States
On August 19, a new product called 'Guandi Black Ginseng' officially entered the U.S. market. At the launch event that day, many people came, including those from traditional Chinese medicine, the health industry, and community circles, to see what this black ginseng was really like.
This event was organized by Professor Ren Liping, president of Tongrentang USA. She is highly accomplished; she previously served as president of the American Health Products Association and oversaw the American Natural Botanical and Health Products Federation.
Professor Ren said that ginseng has always been the 'king of herbs,' and black ginseng is made by taking high-quality ginseng through 'nine steamings and nine sun-dryings,' combined with fermentation and cell-wall breaking processes. After that, some components in the ginseng change. So it differs from white ginseng and red ginseng, and has its own characteristics in absorption and utilization.
She also said that in traditional health preservation, black ginseng is used to replenish qi, nourish blood, and regulate yin and yang. This idea comes from ancestral processing techniques, combined with modern technology, aiming to give busy, stressed Americans a choice for body conditioning.
Now that traditional Chinese medicine is gradually going global, how to combine old traditions with modern science, quality standards, and consumer needs is indeed a question for TCM's international expansion. In any case, this time black ginseng going to the United States marks a new beginning.
