How to control sugar when eating mooncakes during Mid Autumn Festival for sugar lovers? Nutritionist teaches three matching methods
When the Mid-Autumn Festival comes, moon cakes, pomelos and barbecues are indispensable. But for friends with diabetes, if you don't pay attention to what and how much you eat, it's easy to eat too many calories, sugar, sodium and fat. Huang Jiayong, a nutritionist at the Hsinchu Hospital of China Medical University, said that friends with diabetes can't eat Mid Autumn food. Remember three principles: reduce mooncakes, consume grapefruit in moderation, and have grilled meat before serving meat. You can also enjoy eating and stabilize your blood sugar levels.
Huang Jiadang said that mooncakes are Dim sum with high sugar and fat. One 100g jujube paste mooncake is about 420 calories, equivalent to 1.5 bowls of white rice; 55 grams of egg yolk pastry is approximately 254 calories, close to 1 bowl of white rice. So mooncakes can be prioritized for small portions, low sugar or low oil. When eating mooncakes, treat them as a part of staple food or Dim sum, and eat less rice and noodles when eating. You can also share it with your family to avoid eating too many calories and carbohydrates.
Secondly, grapefruit should be consumed in moderation. Pomelo contains a lot of dietary fiber, vitamin C, and phytochemicals. But if you eat too much, your blood sugar may still rise quickly. It is recommended that diabetes friends eat 2 to 3 valves each time, and no more than 6 valves a day. If you are taking medication to lower blood pressure and blood lipids, you should ask a doctor or pharmacist before taking grapefruit.
Barbecue should be done in the order of "vegetables first, then protein, and finally staple food". Eat vegetables, mushrooms, soy products, seafood, and lean meat first, and eat less processed foods such as sausages, sweet and spicy foods, pig blood cakes, and high-fat meat. Barbecue sauce usually has a lot of sugar and sodium, just brush it thinly. Natural spices such as onions, lemons, and garlic can also be used for seasoning. Choose plain water or sugar free tea as the beverage.
Huang Jialuo also shared 3 healthy Mid Autumn Festival dishes that can be made at home:
Fruit konjac ice heart mooncake: Add konjac powder and gelatin powder to water and simmer over low heat until dissolved. After cooling, pour it into the mooncake mold, add a small amount of diced fruit, refrigerate for about 2 hours, and release the mold after solidification.
Garlic and Pomelo Juice Seafood Cup: Shrimp, medium roll, blanched and cut into sections, mixed with minced garlic, shredded onion, grapefruit flesh, and grapefruit juice, and then filled into an empty grapefruit cup.
Pomelo flavored Aloe Bubble Drink: Peel off the pomelo flesh, put it in a cup, add aloe vera granules, then pour in sugar free carbonated water and mix well.
