Incorrect expiration date printing and missing labeling of celery! Esselunga and Coop recall plant-based cheese and vegetable broth
Several famous supermarkets in Italy have recently received consecutive recall notices and urgently removed two types of food from their shelves. The ones named are a plant-based mozzarella cheese sold at stores such as Esselunga and Coop, as well as a pre packaged vegetable soup. After investigation, it was found that both products had incorrect information printed on the packaging labels.
The first product to be recalled is a plant-based replacement called "Veggarella" under the "Io Veg" brand. It is made from soybeans and almonds and is specifically designed for vegetarians to eat. Now Esselunga, Il Gigante, and Coop have all issued recall notices. The reason for the recall is that the manufacturer printed the Best Time for Consumption (TMC) incorrectly. The expiration date stated on the packaging is November 27, 2027, but the correct shelf life should be December 1, 2026. The problem batch is a 125 gram package, and the batch number is the date "27.11.2027" that was printed incorrectly. The manufacturer specifically states that as long as the product is consumed before December 1, 2026 and the quality itself is not a problem, it can be consumed normally. If you have any questions, you can send an email to [email protected] Alternatively, you can call the free service hotline at 800 960912 to inquire with the manufacturer.
The second recalled product is the "Ortonatura" brand sliced vegetable soup ingredient reported by Esselunga supermarket. There was an error in labeling this product, as the product name was mistakenly printed as' zuppa toscana '(Tuscan soup). Due to the incorrect name, the key ingredient celery was omitted from the ingredient list. Celery is a common allergen, and if people who are allergic to celery accidentally consume it, it may cause serious allergic reactions. The product in question is a 600 gram box, with the affected batch number being "0510", and the corresponding shelf lives are October 5, 2026 and October 11, 2026, respectively. The Italian Ministry of Health has updated this recall warning on October 8, 2026. People who are allergic to celery must carefully check their information before buying or eating to avoid accidents.
