Is it really luck to win a scratch and scrape lottery? Italy exposes insider case, 25 million assets frozen

The Italian Guard recently cracked a very bizarre lottery fraud case. The lottery issuing company has 5 internal employees who use their work convenience to hack into the company's server and secretly check which store the jackpot scratch off lottery tickets have been sent to. Then they asked their relatives and friends to go to those stores, buy the winning lottery tickets, and embezzled a total of 24 million euros in prize money. Now, law enforcement agencies have taken action and frozen and seized assets worth over 25 million euros under their name.

The investigation stated that these employees used their respective system permissions to access the company's internal servers, breaking the rules of random lottery sales. They found out in advance which stores would receive four million dollar special prize tickets, with two single tickets winning 7 million euros and the other two single tickets winning 5 million euros. After knowing which lottery store in the country the lottery tickets were delivered to, they instructed their relatives and acquaintances to rush over and buy them directly, easily obtaining the huge prize money.

This seriously disrupted the market order. The prosecutor's office of the Lazio regional audit court has officially authorized the recovery of state-owned funds to compensate for the losses incurred by the customs and monopoly bureau.

At present, the police have frozen and seized a large number of assets under the names of the suspects, including 25 properties, including villas, apartments, garages, and basements in Rome, Viterbo, Treviso, Taranto, Grosseto, and Reggio Calabria. Several large displacement luxury cars, motorcycles, and multiple bank accounts under their name have also been seized. Afterwards, the audit court judge will decide whether to maintain or adjust these asset freeze measures.
